- All ground floor accommodation with small resident numbers per cottage; en-suite facilities available. All units have direct access to serve outside space with no internal or external steps or ramps.
- Natural sunlight (very important in dementia and depression) is enhanced by provision of extensive light tunnels: artificial lights and appropriate curtains also provided throughout in accordance with Stirling’s recommendation.
- Series of secure gardens with many dementia friendly features provided; direct access via conservatories and sheltered areas from within.
- Minimal noise in complex because of acoustics of materials, soundless alarm system and use of specialised trolleys.
- All flooring specification including colour schemes of architraves, hand rails, walls are dementia friendly.
- All décor and fittings throughout (including bathrooms/en-suites/toilets) strictly adhere to dementia friendly principles e.g. appropriate use of mirrors, good colour contrasts, colour coding, use of shower curtains to define en-suites.
- Clear signs on lounges and day rooms with age appropriate furnishings and emphasis on colour contrast. Dining rooms with homely furnishings e.g. dining room table, side-board, dressers.
- Cottages individually themed by use of pictures from different areas e.g. Gortin Glens, Clogher Valley, Fermanagh Lakes – these pictures are an excellent tool for reminiscent therapy.
- Activity centres throughout the complex.
We have 3 individual gardens, all secured by gate and appropriate fencing, are all dementia friendly with appropriate signs. All have sheltered areas as well as interesting walks and activity areas.
- We have a dedicated activity hub for arts/crafts, dining out experiences, afternoon teas
- Dedicated activity room for arts and crafts/prayer gatherings.

- Hairdressing Salon with stylist in attendance.
- Designated kitchen for residents baking.
